I Eat Sandwiches T-shirt

I eat sandwichesI happened across a bunch of those “I heart/love” t-shirts, particularly one about sandwiches, when I thought to myself, that doesn’t REALLY say enough about sandwiches, and about the people who love them! *grin*

Sweet Earth Chocolates

John and I found a terrific store that sells only organic, fair trade chocolate products! We got a bit of this and a bit of that from the chocolate catalog at Sweet Earth Chocolates to try them out. Like bars of bittersweet chocolate, organic cocoa, and real peanut butter cups! They were all fabulous, and not as pricey as I’ve seen in other retail shops online. (I don’t even know where we’d begin to look for this type of product locally!) I also made delicious chocolate chip cookies with their chocolate chips, although they were so big that I had to snap them in half, which turned the cookies into chocolate CHUNK cookies – still delicious though – LOL. So if you want to feel even BETTER when you eat chocolate, check out the wonders at Sweet Earth Chocolates.

Chocolate Cream Puffs

We didn’t make these cream puffs, John just bought them at a supermarket bakery, but they were such a lovely surprise, and quite funny photographically, so I thought I’d post a photo. Maybe one of you readers will get inspired to make some of your own – if you do, let me know – LOL!

Bring Me Wine!

I found this really fun quote from Aristophanes which really deserved to be put on a tshirt: “Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine so that I may whet my mind and say something clever.” (Click the image to see the shirts.)

What? You don’t know who Aristophanes is? “Aristophanes was primarily a comic writer who satirized Athenian politics and culture (a form of comedy known as Old Comedy). An outspoken opponent of Athens’ war with Sparta (the Peloponnesian War), Aristophanes is perhaps most famous for his comedy Lysistrata in which all the women of Greece band together and deny their husbands sex until the war is ended.” *grin*

Papaya Henge

My old digital camera stopped working, so that traumatic event became the excuse I eventually used to buy TWO new digital cameras! The first one, which I received yesterday, is another 5MP point and shoot. Very small, great size to slip in my purse, goof off with, take people photos with, etc. To test out the macro function, I created Papaya Henge from a bag of mixed dried fruit that John donated to the cause.

The other digital camera, which should be arriving sometime tomorrow, is bigger, blacker, heavier, more impressive, has one of those large glass lens thingies for wide angle and telephoto shots, and can shoot super-macro shots from ONE centimeter away from the subject. With that camera, you’d be able to see the little papaya druids chanting in their macrolithic Papaya Henge! For now though, you’ll just have to use your imagination.

Tuesday is Pancake Day!

Stop by your local IHOP (International House of Pancakes) for a free short stack tomorrow! As they say: “Join IHOP to celebrate National Pancake Day (also known as Mardi Gras, or Shrove Tuesday) on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., we’ll give you one free short stack (three) of our famous buttermilk pancakes. All we ask is that you consider making a donation to support local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network, or other local charities.”

Wheel of Food

Here’s a neat little flash app: Wheel of Food! Looks like it pulls local restaurant listings (depending on the zip code you’ve specified, and all listings if you used ‘food’ as a search, but try ‘chinese’, ‘hamburgers’ etc. too) and then it spins the wheel and picks a place for you. If you don’t like what it picked, grab a spoke with your mouse and spin again. Neato!

Nice Pear

I was just playing around with my watercolors and painted this pear. Then I thought, “Hey, that’s a nice pear!” True Story! Of course, when you put it on a t-shirt, it’s POSSIBLE that it could take on an additional meaning, but I’m sure that’s the farthest thing from your mind, right? Heh.

The “Nice Pear” design is available on a variety of tshirts and sweatshirts in our shop – CLICK HERE to see them all, and get a nice, juicy pear for yourself.

Kendall-Jackson 2005 Special Reserve Zinfandel

I happened to catch Narsai David on the radio the other day on the way to the grocery store, and he was recommending a bottle of wine from Kendall-Jackson. Their 2005 Special Reserve Zinfandel. And I was actually able to find it in the store, so we bought it! And even if this story doesn’t have much in the way of drama, it does have a happy ending – LOL – in that we really liked the wine. Was lovely and fruity, with lots of excellently blended flavors. (I think we bought it for around $10.99.)

The weird thing about this story is that we have satellite radio for the car, which kicks in right when you turn the car on, so when I thought back, I wasn’t exactly sure WHEN I heard Narsai David as he’s on the local AM radio. Finally, I figured it out. When we were getting gas, we were under the little roof over the gas pumps so we weren’t getting satellite radio, and in the few seconds (less than a minute) before I turned the car back on and drove away and the satellite radio came on, I must have heard this review. That’s the kind of thing where there was such a small window to be able to hear this information that I have to believe it was divine intervention from the wine gods. Heh.
